No organisation can ignore the spiralling cost of electrical
energy, so let Powermaster's expert consultants identify where you
can make savings without compromising performance. We can tailor an
energy saving package specifically for your leisure or sports
centre's needs by helping you:
What kind of cost-savings can be made?
If pumps and fans are operating within your buildings then you
may have an excellent opportunity to save energy. Just a 10%
reduction in the speed of a pump of fan can give a 25% reduction in
energy consumption. A 20% speed reduction can give a 50% reduction
in energy consumption. The greater the speed reduction, the greater
the savings.
The table below gives an example of the kind of cost savings
your organisation could enjoy:

Carbon Reduction Commitment
Your organisation may also be affected by the new Carbon
Reduction Commitment. This is a mandatory scheme to promote
energy efficiency and help reduce carbon emissions. If you are
affected, you may find that it is beneficial to act now, rather
than wait until phase 2 of the CRC, when costs will be increasingly
high.
Don't just take our word for it...
"The results taken from the survey by Powermaster are
impressive and we have already seen excellent carbon savings at our
North and West Wiltshire sites where the client has installed
variable speed drives earlier this year. The payback period is well
within the usual range for investment and is likely to be less as
the unit cost of electricity assumed by Powermaster will be almost
certainly higher than the 7p/kWh used in their
calculations.
I know that Powermaster will have measured the actual demand
of each motor and not simply taken the data from the plate. We have
used them extensively as they are market leaders and offer
excellent customer service both pre and post installation"
- Chris Williams, Group Environmental
and Utility Manager, DC Leisure Management.
"This scheme is one of several measures being implemented
byMoray Leisure Ltdto reduce energy consumption, reduce bills and
help to combat climate change. If we can reduce CO2 emissions we
can make an important contribution towards reducing global warming
and greenhouse gas emissions."
- Ken Lindsay, Maintenance Manager, Moray Leisure
LTD.
"Powermaster installed Variable Speed Drives on the pool
pumps and air handling units at our Scarborough Indoor Pool, and,
as a result, we have seen a we have seen a substantial reduction in
our energy consumption"
- Allan Simmonds,Scarborough Borough
Council
"This scheme is one of several measures being implemented by
Hambleton District Council at its buildings to reduce energy
consumption, reduce bills and help to combat climate change. If we
can reduce CO2 emissions we can make an important contribution
towards reducing global warming and greenhouse gas
emissions."
- David McGloin, Head of Technical Services. Hambleton
District Council.
"Powermaster has installed Variable Speed Drives on the pool
circulation pumps at two of our leisure facilities. During normal
hours ofoperation the pump motor speed was reduced by 10% with an
even greater reduction through the night. The installation resulted
in immediateenergy savings for the two properties with no loss in
water quality. We have estimated that thesavings achieved at one of
the facilities hasresulted in a payback of 1.16 years"
- Stuart Morrow, Stockton-On-Tees Borough
Council.
