Real time monitoring through intelligent technology
IWEMS® (Integrated Water & Energy
Management System) is our integrated solution for monitoring and
controlling air, water and energy management systems within leisure
centres. Because IWEMS® can make real time
adjustments to motor speeds in order to maximise energy efficiency,
air handling units and pool pumps are automatically optimised based
upon conditions, leading to a significant energy savings.
IWEMS® can be added to any existing
installation of variable speed drives on:
Water filtration
pumps: By monitoring all relevant aspects of water quality
in real time (free Cl, pH, turbidity, temperature),
IWEMS® can reduce pump speed when water
quality exceeds a threshold value. A consistent control of water
chemistry at varying pump speeds is assured, and an automated alarm
system brings pumps up to full speed in the event that water
chemistry parameters fall outside the normal operating range.
All water and energy management data
is fed to a web-based application which enables expert monitoring
and accurate reporting.
IWEMS® - Our Vision for the Leisure Industry
Our vision is to properly integrate the control of pool pump
speed with the monitoring and management of water quality, so as to
maximise the opportunity for energy savings at any time of day,
consistent with the maintenance of high quality water.
This incorporates a number of elements:
1. Real-time monitoring of all relevant aspects of water quality
(free Cl, pH, turbidity).
2. Reduction in pump speed when water quality exceeds a
threshold value (initially this will be on the basis of turbidity
measurements)
3. Linking chemical dosing and control to pump speed to ensure
consistent control of water chemistry at varying pump speeds.
4. Provision of automated alarm systems that bring pumps up to
full speed in the event that water chemistry parameters fall
outside normal operating range for whatever reason. Rapid
circulation will probably be necessary to bring water chemistry
quickly back into the desired range.
5. Telemetry of all relevant water management and energy
management data to a web-based application. This enables:
-
Expert monitoring
-
Optimised tuning of system parameters
-
Accurate reporting of system performance and energy savings
-
System fault detection and remedy (by telephone or internet)
6. This system can be added to any existing installation of
variable speed drives with suitable dosing system, at a small cost,
but showing massive savings.
7. The system can also switch off UV treatment systems when not
needed thereby prolonging lamp life.
8. The basic monitoring unit on this system was used with
outstanding success at the Commonwealth pool in Edinburgh
